INDEPENDENT PUBLIC-RECORDS ARCHIVECALAVERAS COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

Project guide

Frequently Asked Questions

General answers about the Calaveras Transparency Project and how the archive will organize public records.

What is the Calaveras Transparency Project?

It is an independent, topic-based public-records archive focused on Calaveras County agencies, decisions, programs, and projects.

Is this an official Calaveras County website?

No. The project is independent and is not operated by Calaveras County or another government agency.

Why are there no collections yet?

This is the clean starter fork. Records and conclusions from the original county archive were intentionally removed so Calaveras material can be built from its own sources.

What belongs in a collection?

A collection can include public-record requests, agency responses, released documents, meeting records, timelines, reports, FAQs, and specialized tools relevant to one subject.

Do reports replace the original documents?

No. Reports are reading aids. The source record remains controlling and should be linked wherever possible.

How are facts and analysis separated?

Pages should distinguish verified facts, official statements, public records, analysis, and unresolved questions rather than presenting inference as established fact.

How can I contribute a record or correction?

Use the Contact and Contribute page and include the source, date, agency, and original file when possible.
